Scottish/Irish Highland Festival
September 9 - 12, 2010
Unfortunately it’s already happened this year, just this past weekend. So for those of you who missed out on this great event, here’s what you can look forward to at next year’s festival: • One of the weekend highlights is the hour-long parade on Elkhorn Avenue, Estes Park’s main street. Bagpipes, drummers, dancers, clans in tartan, Dogs of the British Isles, brass military bands and precision drill teams give a preview of what can be seen on the festival field.
• The Long’s Peak Feis is one of many competitions held at the festival and is usually a favorite. A Feis is an Irish Step Dance Competition.
• Haggis tasting & Celtic rock band performances round out the festivities. The familiar and timeless sounds of bagpipes fill the air throughout the weekend.
These were just some of the highlights throughout the festival, and nothing beats being there to experience all of the sights and sounds. But hey, there’s always next year, and I just gotta say one thing…. They may take our lives, but they’ll never take...our FREEDOM!!!!!
